Did you know you can link MailChimp to your Moonfruit site?

Want to create email newsletters? Want to send them to subscribed followers and have them sign up through your Moonfruit site? Well, maybe my friend Freddie here can help.

OK. Who’s Freddie?

Freddie is the cheeky chap winking at you above. The monkey mascot of MailChimp, the Internet’s most popular email marketing tool.

Through them you can create multiple mailing lists and generate the signup forms that can be embedded into your website.

Oh, and did we mention that it’s free?

Here’s how it works…

First you’re going to need a MailChimp account.

Note: If you have one already then please bear with us.

To do that  head over to and click ‘Sign up for free’ in the top right hand corner.

It’s pretty self explanatory from there.  Just add a working email address, a username, password and hit ‘Create My Account’.

You’ll then be sent  an activation email to the address used.

Got it? Cool. Respond to that and you should be taken here…

…to fill in your account details.

Creating a list

OK. Now we’re going to create a ‘list’. These are basically address books in your MailChimp account. Places where you store all the contacts who subscribe to your mailing list.

To start a new one click ‘Create a list’ on the dashboard.

Fill in the details of the list

Add your contact info

The notification settings and ‘Save’.

Right. Lets get you some subscribers to this list.

Creating the form

Click ‘Signup forms’:

Choose ‘Embedded forms’

Choose a style and set your preferences

Copy the code

Then, you log in to your website, add an HTML widget to your page through ‘Insert’-> ‘HTML snippet’ and paste the code into the widget through the ‘Editor’-> ‘Set up’.

Save all your good work and switch to view mode to see your lovely new MailChimp form.

Visitors can now subscribe to your mailing list and you can respond to them through your MailChimp account.

Note: The form simply redirects mail to your MailChimp account. You manage, create emails etc directly through

    Hi Wendy,

This is great to know what we can do with third party widget via html embed tool. However we also want moonfruit to build its own widgets or moduls faster. It has been more than a month since the last new feature release.

Can you please inform us what is in pipeline for upcoming release in moonfruit? We would like to hear about it.
