Pitch your biz and win a startup business bundle worth £10,000

Got a startup business idea? Want a bucket load of cash and gadgets to help get it off the ground? Well, we might have something for you…

We’re giving away £5000, an ultra-thin 27-inch iMac complete with Adobe Photoshop, a Canon 700D camera, and a professionally designed website to promote your product or service. Oh, and a business mentor to guide your startup on its way.

What’s the catch?

Tell us your business idea.

We want you to create a short video or image that sells what you do. Snap it, film it, design it, etch it, write it big on a piece of paper, sing it, make it out of apple cores, go crazy: give us your elevator pitch.

Maybe you’ve had a rough idea rattling around, a hobby you think can make you money, or you may already have a small business that needs an extra boost – whatever it is, we want to see it. The best one will get the bundle worth £10,000 to bring it to life.

To enter, create your visual pitch and upload it at by midnight (GMT), Monday 20 October 2014.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, take a look at some of these:

      Hi Sean,

I’ve had a look on our system and cannot find the site address or the email address you linked to your post. You can either leave your Moonfruit username here so I can look in to it, or you can get in touch through support ticket or Facebook.

      Hello Erika,

The good news is the competition is available to anyone worldwide, however, as BizBritain mentoring is UK based that part of the prize would not be available to non-UK residents.

    Two or three questions
Moonfruit . . . I am avoiding looking you up so a straight question . What doea moonfruit do ?
Second one . . . Does anyone think start up britain is achieving anything for real people
Third one. . . Does anyone know why social networking only works for the individual to boast about themselves rather than making a useful network for society. Such a shame. Imagine if a shed load of big hitters got together, with me as the boss , excellent !

    • Marcel Reinard

      Hello Jofffs,

We’re a free DIY website builder and can also build websites for you too.

You mention Startup Britain so I’m not sure if you mean BizBritain or the umbrella UK government backed start up loans project, but the latter is providing loans and mentoring to thousands of entrepreneurs across the country.

Social networks can be used in different ways: LinkedIn is a great platform for entrepreneurs, you can get advice and reconnect with former colleagues and tutors and Twitter has its place for businesses – when used sparingly. Instagram, Vine and others can all be good promotional tools too.

I would like to pitch my biz and enter the prize to win a startup business bundle worth £10000. The max. file upload size is 10MB. My video is 1GB, can I upload it on for you to access it? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    • Andy Siddons

      Hi Margaret,

Thanks so much for taking the time to enter our completion, we’re
excited to see what you’ve come up with!

Unfortunately, as the terms and conditions state that the maximum file
upload size is 10MB, it’s difficult for us to make exceptions.

However, you might want to think about getting creative with making an image or
other file that fits in with the upload limits but might link off to
      other places…

Looking forward to seeing your entry.

Is it acceptable for some of the £5,000 cash to be used to supplement my income for a couple of months while the business starts? The rest would be used for marketing and advertisement and logistics.

    Many thanks

  4. Hector

    Hi Moonfruiters,

Thank you for organising this awesome competition. I am not sure of my eligibility. I am from Singapore, a Moonfruit customer yet-to-be, may I take part?

  5. Jerry

    Hi Marcel,

Thanks for running this exciting competition.

Is it possible to submit a URL to a multi-media Prezi resource has an entry rather than a file? Naturally the content will be under 10MB complying with the maximum file size allowed.

    All the best,

  6. Ceri

Do you have a directory of the businesses that you provide services to and do your customers cross promote with links to other businesses? Just curious at the moment…

    • Marcel Reinard

Unfortunately, we don’t release any info on businesses that provide us services. Cross promotion does happen, but it’s usually with online creative services. Hope that answers your query!

  7. Damien Rainbow

Hey! I was wondering if Americans can enter. If they can, do they do do they get $8045.75 instead of the 5000 pounds? And they get everything else to right? Also, why is it only 10MB? If you uploaded a video, it could only be like 5 seconds! So can I just send a link to a video instead?

    • Marcel Reinard

      Hello Damien,

Yep we’re accepting entries from all over the world! Word of warning though: you may not be able to receive the mentoring portion of the prize as the company providing it supports UK residents only.

You can reduce the video file size if necessary with video editing software. With the links, we review case by case – unfortunately any Das Boot (director’s cut) length videos won’t make the shortlist.

  8. neil henderson

great competition Moonfruit – the file size was a challenge but finally got there. Hope you enjoy “The Golden Ticket” – we are very excited. :)

  9. Reena Chudasama

Hey, U guys say ist open for world wide users but we in India cannot use it as you do not offer our currency nor the .in domain which most of us have. Please look into the matter urgently.

    • Marcel Reinard

      Hello Reena,

Sorry to hear about the problems,I’ll have to look into some of this but unfortunately the competition closed on 20 October.

    • Marcel Reinard

Not long to go, Jaki. After some pretty intense judging days we’re hoping to post the result in the next 7 days.

  10. neil

Thanks Marcel – so will winner be announced today or around end of week. Our team are really excited after all the work we put in for the video – imagine you have plenty of great entries to work through.
    The Golden Ticket

  11. Jodie

I was wondering when we found out the results of the winner?

I look forward to hearing back.

    Kind Regards,
