Pitch your biz – competition winners

In September, we put out a call the world over: sum up your business idea in a short video or image, and send it to us in order to be in with a chance of winning a prize worth £10,000.

We were inundated with entries. From The Make District’s artist collective, to the scrumptious sounding condiments from Peeps Treats, to Beyond Fit’s mission to promote a healthy lifestyle as a way to combat illness, the team at Moonfruit HQ were so impressed by the depth of talent. However, we could only pick one winner and our judges chose to go with smartphone app concept Gimmy, conceived by Hannibal Knowles and Fred Parry.

Though still in their teens, Hannibal and Fred have shown that age isn’t an issue when it comes to having that eureka moment. Gimmy is billed as an address book for the 21st century. It consolidates all your up to date contact information across your favourite networks and then syncs it automatically to your phone contacts, provided they have the app installed.

It’s important to note that this app idea is still in the early stages of development. But we applaud Hannibal and Fred for recognising a problem and coming up with an innovative way to potentially solve it. Necessity truly is the mother of invention.

We’ll be keeping a keen eye out to see what Hannibal, Fred, and the other Pitch Your Biz entrants do next. A big thank you to everyone who took the time to submit pitches – we wish you all the best on your entrepreneurial journeys.
