February Site of the Month: Cake Your Day
It was only reasonable that following everyone's hard work during January's Health and Fitness Month, we rewarded you come February time – and so Cakes and Bakes seemed just the right tonic for our Group of the Month theme.
We were inundated with websites to chew over for February’s Site of the Month award - selling all kinds of baked creations, from burger cupcakes to Star Wars cake-pops. But the cake crown ultimately went to Cake Your Day.
Who are they?
Emma Wales (below left) is the baker extraordinaire behind Cake Your Day. Having previously worked in international marketing, Emma decided to embark on a new challenge following the birth of her first child. Specialists in cupcakes for special occasions, they have also recently started offering cupcake decorating courses too.
With its eye-catching logo (featuring a cupcake, heart and flower motif) and vibrant pink colour scheme, the Cake Your Day homepage is striking and creates a strong visual identity.
Elements of the logo's motif are used throughout the website's design, giving a sense of continuity across the site – the cupcake is featured in the site's background pattern and the decorative-flower squirl is used as a page footer.
Content is well organised and laid out in a neat and easy-to-read format. The site's menu has a tab for each service offered – cake flavours, cupcake courses, gifts and weddings – meaning visitors can find the information they're looking for quickly.
The flavours page breaks down all the ingredients options and gives a mouthwatering description of each, something to entice potential customers. The prices page is also constructed in the the same clear and informative way.
We think the gallery page is a great showcase for the wide variety of delicious products Emma creates. The social media and contact banner at the bottom of the welcome page also draws attention to the other platforms Cake Your Day is active on, keeping customers connected to the company.
