New to v6: The Blog (Beta) and contact form update

form and blog update

Yep. Hot on the heels of the contact form beta comes the other most requested feature for v6…

The Blog

Similar to the v5 incarnation but reworked for the age of HTML5, this faster, more SEO-friendly blog makes its beta debut.

For those of you who don’t know what beta means, this is the basic, no-frills version of the final product. Like Tony Stark when he makes his first Iron Man suit. Pretty good, but there’s still a bit of work to be done.

So, if you’ve been waiting to start a blog on your site, now’s the time! Just bear in mind that features such as comments won’t be available until the next release in a few weeks.

In the meantime, you can now…

  • Add a blog to your v6 site and view it on all devices
  • Compose blog posts, including images, links and the option to use excerpts
  • Benefit from greater search engine visibility for your blog pages

For customers who have migrated their sites to v6 (or have been waiting for today’s release), you’ll see all of your blog articles from v5 automatically imported into this new version

And, when the comments feature arrives in the next release, any comments left on your v5 blog (saved in our database) will also be pulled through automatically.

Basically, you have everything you need to start getting your thoughts and ideas into the blogosphere, and there’s more to come!

How to use it

As always, if you’ve never blogged before or don’t even know what the term means, we’re here to help and make it as easy as possible for you to get involved.

It’s a great way of developing an online voice and reaching out to the lovely people who visit your website.

Contact form update

Also in this release comes the first update of the recently released v6 contact form. Just a small upgrade really, but visitors will now be able to access and use the form more easily on their mobile phones.

As we said, there’s more to come in a few weeks’ time, including the option to add styling to text.

Do feel free to leave your comments below regarding either feature, and we recommend that you check out our new FAQs on these features. If you have any other questions then please contact our support team.
