Please read and ashere to the following when using this forum:

These are the Rules:

1. Be nice: Questions and comments are created by people not just a keyboard. People have feelings. Even if you disagree with someone, you must keep your tone civil, respectful and reasonable.

2. Keep on topic: Please keep discussions relevant to each topic and avoid multiple topic posts. And if heated debate ensues, please see Rule 1.

3. Don't Spam: Show restraint with your posting frequency and your comments. Again, please refer to Rule 1. Everyone is trying to be creative, be good at what they do, and enjoying the web building experience but monopolising the forum can be distracting.

4. Tolerance: We are all students and teachers and people learn best when encouraged. Some folk don't read FAQ or Guides and prefer to ask. They should not be 'flamed' for asking simple questions. If in doubt, refer to Rule 1.

5. Respect Staff: Comdot is not perfect. Comdot cannot work miracles. Comdot are (the entire Support team post as Comdot) users just like you and we do try hard to assist those who need help. Comdot would prefer to answer technical questions (and criticism when we deserve it) than moderate this forum. We would also like to point you to Rule 1.

So please, for the sake of the entire community, I would ask ALL users to abide by these Rules and restrict themselves to posting useful, contributory, postive comments.

Thanks - Comdot

i think the most important issue with the lewis posting bluntness or rudeness is mostly damaging too moonfruit as a lot of first time users try out the free version to see if its worth using a paid version, so getting a rude comment the first time they use this forum could potentially put customers off paying for moonfruit services an try someone else.

I think there's a difference between form and content. Lewis's form is indeed a little off-putting, and does sometimes cross the boundary between robust delivery and gratuitous insult. On the other hand, almost everything he says, especially about web design, makes absolute sense, and anyone genuinely wanting to increase the impact of their site and rid it of superfluous tat would do well to listen closely to Lewis's opinions.

So I would not support any censorship of him or his views, and whilst it might be nice to see examples of Lewis's own design principles in action, he's made it very clear that he's not going to provide them. So what? It's perfectly possible for someone to know how to do something, but not actually be able to do it themselves. Or it maybe that Lewis has great examples but chooses not to trumpet them. Either way, anyone can take the prinicples Lewis has repeatedly outlined and apply them to their own site without having to see the master at work. So frankly if anyone has decided not to read what Lewis says because they're too busy getting counselling for their bruised ego, well, that's their loss. I don't see why the rest of us should be deprived of good advice on their account.

If you are comfortable in both environments then maybe you create a site with two (or more) channels (or one or more sites to avoid confusion): one quirky, one buttoned up. I guess however you would have a preference and an aptitude for one or the other. Go with what's comfortable, unless the other one offers the opportunity for much more money, in which case be prepared to be bored, very bored.

Ive just read a topic in this General Topic about 'Adsense Links, and Lewis, i am ashamed at you. Why do you have to be so insolent to a person who is simply asking a question..... and your end remark saying " do you want to be spoonfed". If you dont want to assist on this forum, dont bother answering. Plenty of new members are joining Moonfruit and yes, some dont read the tutorials, and others ask questions that have been on many times, but if i was a newbie and got the answer you just gave them, well...... dont think i would bother to back to the forum. I even wonder why you are on here, as you do not show your site(s), just a silly slogan. As it says at the top of this page, Beautiful Websites...... thats us..., Simply (simple)...thats you. Now... put up... or shut up.

geez... wot an answer !!!!.... it will take a while for google to know your site, so they will put usual ads on. Once google know what your site is all about, they will gradually put ads on that pertain to your information on your site. As long as you have done your metatags and keywords properly to each page, gradually it will be sorted. If unsure about keywords etc, put a topic on here asking for mamestar, he will assist you , he knows everything about this and will set you right, hope this helps you.

How are you expecting Google to "know" what your site is about? If you answer THAT question for yourself - and it isn't hard, exactly, but it does require thought - you'll be well along the path to working out what you need to do to get the type of ads you want. On the other hand if you wait a bit someone wil be along to spoon-feed you the answer soon enough.
